While the election of the new NZSA Executive at the AGM during the NZSA Conference in Wellington saw a turn over in the roles of office bearers, with Murray Jorgensen elected as President, Judi McWhirter as Secretary and Neil Cox as Treasurer, the committee remains very stable, with most members continuing on in some new role.

Steve Haslett was elected as a Theory and Methods Editor of the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics, of which Russell Millar is the Applications Editor. Alasdair Noble, Geoff Jones and Mike Doherty continue as committee members.

As well as Neil Cox, other first time members are Carl Scarrott, Ian Westbrooke, John Haywood and Ramya Suntheralingam, who is the Young Statisticians’ Representative.

Jenny Brown is Chair of the Awards Committee, Jeff Hunter of Standards, Jenny Mason of Science Fairs, Alex Neill of Education and James Reilly of SAPQC (the Survey Appraisal and Public Questions Committee).

Harold Henderson is the Membership Secretary, Roger Littlejohn the Webmaster and Newsletter Editor, and the committee is rounded out by Rod Ball and David Scott.

Thanks to out-going members Alasdair Gray, Frances Krsinich, Denny Meyer and Andy Smith.

As a new initiative, Murray Jorgensen has set up a Yahoo discussion group for documented communication among Exec members. While this has been broadly successful, some of us are still struggling with membership of this group [Ed!].
